What each bookmaker charges on match goals
The margin is the bookmaker's cut, built into the price before anyone wins anything. We measure it by taking both sides of the same line — over and under — and adding up what those two prices imply. Anything above 100% is the margin. No model, no opinion: two prices and a calculator.
3474 both-sided prices across 91 fixtures, captured 2026-08-17 14:48 to 2026-08-27 04:06.
| Bookmaker | Margin | Range | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pinnacle | 3.86% | 3.16 – 5.33 | 288 |
| Bet365 | 4.76% | 2.86 – 5.76 | 596 |
| Betmgm Uk | 7.71% | 4.57 – 8.56 | 39 |
| Paddy Power | 8.04% | 5.06 – 10.29 | 527 |
The middle (median) price across everything we captured. A book needs at least 20 both-sided prices to appear — fewer than that is a number, not a measurement. This is what these books charged on these fixtures in this window, not a permanent ranking.
Listed separately: the exchange
| Betfair Exchange | 1.48% | 0.21 – 98.02 | 2024 |
An exchange is not a bookmaker and this number does not mean the same thing. The price comes from other people betting, so it tightens when a market is busy and widens when it is quiet — which is why the range is so much wider than any bookmaker's. Commission on winnings is charged separately and is not included here.
Why this matters to a bet builder
Every leg you add multiplies the margin. A bet builder is not one bet at one price — it is several prices multiplied together, and each one carries the cut above. That is why the same slip can be worth backing at one book and not at another, and it is why this site marks a price raw when the margin is still inside it.
Player markets are quoted one side only almost everywhere, so their margin cannot be measured the way this page measures match goals — only estimated. That is why the numbers here are about match markets, and why an edge on a player price is always shown before the margin, never after. How the model works →
